In an unusual move, Real Madrid have formally denied ongoing transfer rumors linking them to Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
The Spanish giants chose to intervene following intense media speculation claiming that manager Jose Mourinho was eager to bring the Argentine international to the Santiago Bernabéu. These transfer rumors gained momentum after comments from Fernandez’s inner circle hinted that the midfielder might welcome a move away from Stamford Bridge.
However, Los Blancos have firmly shut down the reports, clarifying that no negotiations have occurred with Chelsea and that the 25-year-old is not on their radar.
Los Blancos denials Real Madrid interest for Enzo Fernandez’s Transfer
In a formal statement released on their official website, Real Madrid asserted they have made absolutely “no effort, either directly or indirectly” to secure Fernandez’s signature, adding that they have “no intention” of pursuing a deal.
While the club complimented Fernandez’s talent, they emphasized their deep respect for Chelsea and the positive relationship the two teams share.
According to the statement, Real Madrid felt obligated to address the false media narratives because the continuous speculation was misleading fans and unfairly impacting the parties involved. Part of the official release stated:
“Real Madrid wishes to express its utmost respect for Enzo Fernandez, a great footballer whose career and quality are widely known, as well as for Chelsea FC, a club with which it maintains an excellent institutional relationship.”
The club concluded by firmly rejecting the groundless rumors and reiterating that the Argentine midfielder is not part of their transfer strategy.
Madrid’s Midfield Dynamics and Fernandez’s Uncertain Future
While a move for Fernandez has been ruled out, Real Madrid have already bolstered their midfield ahead of the new season by signing Bernardo Silva on a free transfer following the end of his Manchester City contract. The Portuguese playmaker’s arrival has intensified the fight for starting positions in Madrid’s midfield. This influx of talent could trigger high-profile exits, as both Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni are reportedly drawing interest from Manchester United.
Meanwhile, questions remain regarding Fernandez’s long-term future in London. Reports suggest his camp is actively looking at potential destinations outside of Stamford Bridge. The midfielder has previously spoken highly of Spanish football and voiced a desire to reside in Madrid in the future. His situation at Chelsea was further complicated last season after he was briefly dropped from the lineup by then-head coach Liam Rosenior, adding fuel to the ongoing exit rumors.
