Football Writers Association

Composed of journalists and correspondents who report for English news agencies and publications, the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) is responsible for presenting the Footballer of the Year Award – widely regarded as the oldest and most prestigious individual honor in English football. In 2018, the organization expanded its recognition to match the rapid development of the female game by introducing the Women’s Footballer of the Year Award.
