Brighton signs Nigerian teenager Zadok Yohanna

Brighton & Hove Albion have completed the signing of highly-rated Nigerian teenage footballer, Zadok Yohanna from Swedish side AIK on a five-year contract extending until June 2031.

The Seagulls officially confirmed the deal on June 6, 2026, reportedly beating out stiff Premier League competition from Chelsea and Newcastle United. The transfer, rumored to be worth around €28 million (£21.5 million) plus add-ons, represents one of the largest sales in Swedish football history.

Zadok Yohanna, a new world prospect

The 18-year-old winger, who began his career at the Ikon Allah Football Academy, is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s brightest young prospects. Known for his explosive pace, elite dribbling, and creativity, Yohanna earned widespread acclaim during a breakout season in Sweden.

Upon signing, the youngster revealed that Brighton & Hove albion’s proven track record for nurturing elite young talent and their distinct playing style were pivotal factors in his decision. Yohanna is expected to be integrated gradually into Fabian Hürzeler’s squad as the club prepares for its upcoming European campaign.
