WAEC commence 2026 GCE Registration (1st Series)

Registration is now officially open for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) First Series (WAEC GCE).

All prospective private candidates and the general public should take note of the following guidelines for the WAEC GCE registration to ensure a successful application.

Key Dates and Fees

  • Registration Deadline: Friday, January 30, 2026 (11:59 PM).
  • Standard Fee: N27,000 (plus a N500 commission for banks/agents).
  • Walk-in-Candidates: Those who miss the deadline can register as “Walk-in” candidates up to 24 hours before their chosen paper for a fee of N45,000.

How to Register

  1. Purchase a PIN: Visit any accredited bank (such as First Bank, GTBank, Zenith, etc.) or use cashless channels like Paga, Palmpay, or Interswitch to obtain your Registration PIN and VCD.
  2. Online Application: Log on to www.waeconline.org.ng.
  3. Biometrics: Registration includes a biometric capture. Ensure you use the DigitalPersona UareU fingerprint scanner for validation.
  4. Completion Window: Once you first access the portal, you must complete your registration within two weeks.

Examination Format (Computer Based Test – CBT)

For the 2026 series, WAEC is utilizing a Computer Based Test format:

  • Objectives: Fully CBT.
  • Essay & Practicals: Hybrid format (questions displayed on-screen, answers written in provided booklets).
  • Preparation: Candidates are strongly encouraged to use the Myschool WAEC CBT software or mobile app to familiarize themselves with the new digital environment. An optional Online Mock Exam will also be available; details will be sent via SMS and email.

Photo & Document Requirements

  • Passport Quality: Must be JPEG, 275 x 314 pixels, with a contrasting background. Only high-quality digital photos (recommended: Microsoft HD 3000) will be accepted.
  • Admission Notice: After registering, print your Admission Notice. This contains your Result Checker PIN and serves as your ID for the exam hall.

Important Rules & Regulations

  • Special Needs: Candidates with impairments (visual, hearing, etc.) should register online but must clearly state their specific needs during the process.
  • Dress Code: Candidates must wear mufti (casual clothes). No professional uniforms are allowed.
  • Prohibited Items: Mobile phones and electronic gadgets are strictly banned. Possession of these will lead to the cancellation of your entire result.
  • Single Entry: You may only sit for the exam at one centre. Multiple entries will result in cancellation.
  • Refunds: Please note that registration fees are non-refundable.
