Alexander Isak joins Liverpool on a record fee

Alexander Isak is officially a Liverpool player after the Reds wrapped up a deal for the Swedish forward on the final day of the 2025 summer transfer window.

Liverpool paid a British record fee of £125 million for Alexander Isak, making it the most expensive transfer for any player in the UK. The Premier League champions announced the signing on their official website.

The 25-year-old has reportedly signed a six-year contract, committing his future to the Merseyside club until 2031. This blockbuster transfer shatters the previous British record set in 2023 when Chelsea paid £115 million for Moises Caicedo.

After a long negotiation process with Newcastle, Isak shared his excitement about the move. He said in a statement on the Liverpool website, “I feel amazing, It’s been a long journey… I am just happy it’s done.”

He also spoke about his ambitions, stating his goal is to “win everything” and contribute to the team with “goals but much more than that.” Isak leaves Newcastle with an impressive track record, having scored 54 goals in 86 Premier League matches, including 23 last season.
