Alexander Isak declares war on Newcastle United

Newcastle United’s star forward, Alexander Isak, has released a statement on his official Instagram account about the ongoing transfer controversy at the club.

The Swedish international posted his message on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, confirming that his relationship with the club has broken down. In the statement, Alexander Isak claimed there was a prior agreement with Newcastle regarding his future, and that the club has since failed to honor its promises.

He stated that because “promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue,” suggesting a permanent rift. This comes as the summer transfer window is nearing its conclusion and Isak has been widely linked with a move to Liverpool.

What is Alexander Isak future at Newcastle United?

Following an alleged contract dispute, Alexander Isak has stated that his relationship with Newcastle United “can’t continue.” He took to Instagram to share his side of the story, claiming that “promises were made” by the club but have since been broken.

In his statement, the Swedish international explained that he missed the PFA Premier League Team of the Season ceremony because it “didn’t feel right to be there” with everything going on.

He also expressed his frustration that his silence had allowed others to “push their own version of events.” Isak believes that his departure from the club would be “in the best interests of everyone” involved, not just himself.

What is next for Alexander Isak?

Throughout the current transfer window, Alexander Isak has consistently expressed his desire to join Liverpool. While the Reds have had an initial £110 million bid rejected, reports suggest they are preparing a new offer, potentially worth up to £130 million.

However, Newcastle United remains firm in its stance. The club has publicly stated that they have no intention of selling Isak unless two conditions are met: a suitable replacement is secured, and a fee of up to £150 million is offered.

This position has been further reinforced by Isak’s public statement, which has reportedly caused a rift between the player and the club, making a transfer even more complicated.
