Sergio Busquets retires from football at age 37

Former Barcelona star, Sergio Busquets has announced he will retire from professional football at the conclusion of the current Major League Soccer (MLS) season.

The 37-year-old midfielder made the official announcement on Thursday, September 25, 2025, through his social media channels, confirming the end of his illustrious career.

His decision follows earlier hints that the 2025 season would be his final one, as his contract was due to expire.

What did Sergio Busquets said concerning his Retirement and Final Objective?

Expressing deep gratitude for his two-decade-long career, Busquets shared a heartfelt message:

“I feel that the time has come to say goodbye to my career as a professional soccer player. It has been almost 20 years enjoying this incredible story that I have always dreamed of. These will be my last months on the pitch. I’m retiring very happy, proud, fulfilled, and, above all, grateful. A heartfelt thank you to football and to everyone for everything. You will always be a part of my beautiful story.”
