Liverpool vs Arsenal: Preview, Prediction, Team News, Head-2-Head (h2h), Correct Score Prediction, Formation and Current Form

Last season, Liverpool beat Arsenal to the title by a solid ten points. This season, a similar battle for the top spot is expected, with added pressure from other contenders like Manchester City and Chelsea. Liverpool’s title defense has gotten off to an unconvincing but successful start with two straight wins.

However, their defense has looked vulnerable, and they’ve twice given up two-goal leads. Fortunately for manager Arne Slot, late goals have bailed them out, with Rio Ngumoha being the hero against a ten-man Newcastle United on Monday night. The Gunners has also won their first two games, but they’ve done so with impressive clean sheets against Manchester United and newly-promoted Leeds United.

After a lucky win at Old Trafford, the Gunners dominated Leeds at home, scoring five goals, including a brace from new summer signing Viktor Gyökeres. Matches between Liverpool and Arsenal rarely disappoint, and with both of last season’s games ending in a 2-2 draw, Sunday’s clash promises to be another thrilling encounter.

Liverpool Team News

For Sunday’s match, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that Alexis Mac Allister is set to return from injury after missing the Newcastle game. The Argentine is expected to partner with Ryan Gravenberch in the midfield.

Conor Bradley, who was a substitute against Newcastle, has had a full week of training and may return to the starting lineup. His presence is particularly important as Jeremie Frimpong is out with a hamstring injury until after the international break. While Dominik Szoboszlai played well at right-back against Newcastle, he could be moved to the bench.

On the attacking front, Florian Wirtz is still looking for his first competitive goal or assist for the club and will be keen to make an impact. Meanwhile, new striker Hugo Ekitiké has already made his mark, contributing two goals and an assist in the Reds’ first two league games.

Arsenal Team News

Arsenal faces a tough challenge at Anfield on Sunday with a significant number of key players sidelined. Manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Bukayo Saka will be out for several weeks with a hamstring injury, although he won’t require surgery.

Adding to the team’s woes, Martin Ødegaard remains a major doubt for the match after a shoulder injury against Leeds. Gabriel Jesus is also in the treatment room, and Kai Havertz is recovering from minor knee surgery, which will keep him out for a number of weeks.

There’s also uncertainty around the availability of Christian Nørgaard and Ben White. However, Jurriën Timber is likely to start at the back, having impressed in his last outing against Leeds with two goals, an assist, and a clean sheet.

Arsenal fans may get their first glimpse of new signing Eberechi Eze, who was recently unveiled at the Emirates. Also, keep an eye on midfielder Martín Zubimendi, who will be playing against the club he reportedly turned down last summer.

Liverpool vs Arsenal Correct Score Prediction

Historically, matches between Liverpool and Arsenal have been tight and often high-scoring. Four of their last six competitive meetings have ended in a draw, with last season’s two fixtures both finishing 2-2. While Liverpool hasn’t lost to Arsenal at home in the Premier League since 2012, their recent shaky defensive performances could make them vulnerable.

Goals are a regular feature of this matchup, and Liverpool’s attacking style this season suggests Sunday’s game will be no different. The Reds have been brilliant in attack, but their defensive lapses have been a major concern in their opening two league games.

Although it’s still early in the season, both sides will be eager to secure a crucial win and gain a psychological advantage in the title race. Given their recent history and current form, however, another draw seems like a very possible outcome.

Prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal
