In light of recent transfer speculation, Atalanta’s forward, Ademola Lookman, has released an official statement addressing the ongoing situation.
Amidst circulating rumors of renewed interest from Inter Milan, Ademola Lookman has formally expressed his desire to depart Atalanta in the upcoming summer 2025 transfer window.
His statement conveyed: “It is my hope to collaborate with the club to identify an amicable resolution for all involved parties with the utmost expediency. Throughout my three years at Atalanta, I have committed myself entirely, not only as an athlete but as an individual. I have consistently donned the team’s jersey with immense pride and endeavored to represent this club and the city of Bergamo with profound passion, dedication, and heart.
“My initial arrival was driven by the aspiration to contribute to the growth of this extraordinary club, and collectively, we have forged everlasting memories. Securing the Europa League title and celebrating alongside my teammates on that memorable night in Dublin, in the company of our devoted supporters, represents one of the most gratifying accomplishments of my career thus far. The recollection continues to evoke profound emotion.
“Atalanta, and particularly its fanbase, has become an indelible part of my identity. This environment has felt like home since my arrival, and I have consistently striven to reciprocate that affinity – even during moments of internal difficulty. It is this sentiment that renders the composition of this statement so challenging. While I have savored every experience, I now believe, following three remarkable years in Bergamo, that the opportune moment has arrived to pursue a new endeavor. Numerous clubs have previously contacted Atalanta regarding my services, and I have consistently maintained my loyalty.
A key point of contention emerged as he stated: “However, the club’s ownership and I had reached an understanding that this juncture would be appropriate for a move, and they explicitly indicated that a reasonable offer would facilitate my transfer. Despite now having received an offer consistent with our alleged discussions, the club is regrettably obstructing this opportunity for reasons I find incomprehensible.”
Lookman conveyed his growing dissatisfaction: “Consequently, after enduring many months of unfulfilled commitments and what I perceive as substandard treatment, both personally and professionally, I reluctantly feel compelled to articulate my position publicly. I believe this situation has reached a critical point. I can confirm the submission of a formal transfer request.”
