Thomas Tuchel has finally broken his silence on why Chelsea sensation Cole Palmer – along with a host of other massive names – won’t be boarding the plane to the 2026 World Cup.

It’s been a tough year for Palmer. After picking up an injury early in the season, he just hasn’t looked like the same player since returning to pitch. Tuchel candidly admitted that Palmer lacked the “decisiveness” needed for rugby’s biggest stage, especially given the fierce competition for his specific position.

Why did Thomas Tuchel dropped Cole Palmer?

According to the England boss, players like Jude Bellingham, Morgan Rogers, and Eberechi Eze simply outshone Palmer in training camps and enjoyed much stronger domestic campaigns.

Tuchel didn’t stop at Palmer, either. In a massive shakeup to the England setup, he also dropped:

The Creative Core: Phil Foden, Jarrod Bowen, Morgan Gibbs-White, Adam Wharton, and Alex Scott.

The Defensive Unit: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Lewis Hall, and Fikayo Tomori.

Meanwhile, England faces a fascinating path through the group stage, where they’ll have to get past Croatia, Ghana, and Panama to reach the knockouts.
