Super Eagles manager Éric Chelle has included star striker Victor Osimhen in Nigeria’s 24-man squad for the upcoming 2026 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, despite the forward currently dealing with an injury.
The Galatasaray goalscorer has been sidelined for his club’s latest fixtures, but Chelle has maintained his faith in the frontman for these vital international encounters. The Super Eagles are set to welcome Madagascar to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on September 25, followed by an away fixture against Guinea-Bissau in Bissau on September 29.
The team selection also features the return of defender Benjamin Fredrick, who spent several months out recovering from a knee issue. The Brentford center-back had earned a place in the national team setup prior to his health setback and now returns to the fold under Chelle’s management.
