England manager, Thomas Tuchel has addressed Cole Palmer’s latest withdrawal from the international setup, emphasizing that repeated fitness troubles are creating a roadblock for the Chelsea playmaker.

Thomas Tuchel’s Stance

Speaking ahead of England’s fixtures, Tuchel explained that while he does not pin the blame directly on the player, continuous absences make it difficult to evaluate and fully integrate a footballer into the national team’s tactical structure:

“He misses too many opportunities, he misses way too many camps with injuries. It’s not his fault… I can only judge what I witness in my team. For that, you have to be in camp.”

Club Form vs. International Integration

Palmer has otherwise enjoyed an impressive start at club level, netting 4 goals in 7 appearances. However, recurring discomfort – specifically dealing with a groin issue – has repeatedly kept him away from Three Lions training blocks.

Tuchel made it clear that performing strictly at club level is only part of the equation, noting that players miss out on reaching the “next level” of tactical chemistry if they cannot spend consistent time training directly under his supervision on the pitch.
