Mikel Arteta has agreed to a new and improved contract extension with Arsenal, successfully resolving months of uncertainty regarding his future at the Emirates Stadium.
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Spanish manager reached an agreement with the reigning Premier League champions to prolong his tenure in North London. Arteta’s previous contract was entering its final year, set to expire at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, following several months of ongoing negotiations between the club and his representatives.

Having taken charge of Arsenal in December 2019, the 44-year-old manager has orchestrated a dramatic revitalization of the team’s fortunes. Following three consecutive runner-up finishes in the Premier League, Arteta led the Gunners to their first league championship in 22 years during the previous campaign.
Negotiations accelerated significantly over recent months as Arsenal’s leadership prioritized securing their manager’s long-term commitment. Co-chair Josh Kroenke publicly emphasized in May that extending Arteta’s contract was the board’s “utmost priority” after their title success.

Arteta had repeatedly expressed his desire to remain at the club, reassuring fans in August that he was fully content in North London and unconcerned about his contract status.
