Nottingham Forest have finalized a marquee deal to land attacker Liam Delap from Chelsea, committing an initial £45 million – a fee that could hit £50 million once add-ons are met.

The 23-year-old center-forward has secured his long-term future at the City Ground by putting pen to paper on a contract through 2031. The transfer represents the largest financial outlay in Forest’s history, eclipsing the record previously set when acquiring Omari Hutchinson.

About Liam Delap: Career Context & Tactical Fit

The move offers Delap a valuable opportunity to reset his career following an arduous lone season in West London. After joining Chelsea from Ipswich Town in 2025, he found regular starts elusive, managing just two goals across 41 appearances before being excluded from manager Xabi Alonso’s long-term tactical plans.

Forest head coach Oliver Glasner prioritized Delap during the transfer window, aiming to reignite the clinical finishing and power the young forward displayed during his breakout top-flight run with Ipswich. Delap now joins a competitive forward group at the City Ground, where he will challenge for a key role in the starting XI.
