Organizers of the CAF Awards have officially announced both the schedule and host city for the 2026 edition of the gala.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed that the ceremony will be hosted in Lagos, Nigeria, on Monday, December 7, 2026. This decision was finalized by the CAF Executive Committee, designating the Nigerian commercial hub as the destination for this year’s celebration of continental football excellence.
The CAF Awards honor exceptional achievements across African football, paying tribute to standout players, managers, clubs, and national teams that have excelled over the course of the year.

What will hosting of the 2026 CAF Awards mean for Nigeria?
Consequently, Lagos will prepare to welcome elite figures from across African football in December as the continent’s top achievers assemble for one of the governing body’s premier annual showcases.
In addition to the awards gala, the announcement highlights another major upcoming CAF event slated for Nigeria: the country is scheduled to host the CAF Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday, November 21, 2026, just weeks prior to the ceremony.
Although Lagos has been firmly established as the host city, the precise venue or facility within Lagos for the event was omitted from the initial announcement. Through these hosting duties, Nigeria appears to be strengthening its position as a central figure in African football administration – a prominent role that has occasionally been absent for one of the continent’s most decorated footballing nations.
