The 2024 Copa America Tournament best player winner has been revealed following the final game of the competition.
It was a night to remember in the United States as Argentina successfully wins the 2024 Copa America tournament back to back and following the conclusion of the competition the winner for the Player of the Tournament award was also announced to be James Rodriguez.
The Best Player award, also known as the Golden Ball, is the highest individual honour at any Copa America Tournament. It acknowledges the standout player who has consistently delivered exceptional performances throughout the competition.
Although the Copa America has a long history, the MVP award has only been officially recognized since 1987. Before that, an unofficial prize was given to the standout player.
This year, several players were strong contenders for the award, but James Rodriguez of Colombia emerged as the winner. The 33-year-old experienced a career resurgence during the finals, although his tournament ended in disappointment, as he, like Messi, had to leave the final due to injury.

- Assists: James Rodriguez created six assists for his Colombia teammates, which is three times more than any other player in the competition. This set a new Copa America record for a single edition, surpassing Lionel Messi’s previous mark of five assists.
- Goals: He also scored in the 5-0 win against Panama in the Round of 16.
- Overall: Throughout the Copa America 2024, James played 8 matches, scored 1 goal, and provided 6 assists.
