Rodri is officially in the FA’s bad books, but he won’t be missing any game time. The Manchester City anchor was hit with an £80,000 fine and a formal warning today after his “lack of neutrality” comments following the February 1 draw with Spurs.

What did Rodri do?

The drama kicked off at White Hart Lane when Dominic Solanke scored an equalizer that City felt should have been chalked off for a foul on Marc Guéhi. After VAR let the goal stand, a heated Rodri suggested in his post-match interview that officials weren’t being fair to City.

Because his comments questioned the integrity of the referees (a breach of Rule E3.1), the FA stepped in. The defensive midfielder admitted he went too far and apologized, blaming the “heat of the moment.” Luckily for Pep Guardiola, the commission opted against a playing ban, meaning the spanish footballer is cleared for all upcoming matches.
