Chelsea attacker João Pedro has shared insight into what has driven his standout early-season form under head coach Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian forward has rapidly emerged as a key component of Alonso’s forward setup, delivering both goals and key passes while displaying heightened self-assurance in dangerous areas.

What did João Pedro say concerning the new improvement?

João Pedro credits the tactical liberty granted by his manager as a central factor behind his elevated display levels. He explained:

“Everyone wants to score, and Xabi tells us always, it doesn’t matter what happens, you just need to be focused and be connected to the game and you’re going to score. That’s why we score many goals this season from the beginning, because I think in the front three you can create a lot. And if you create a lot, you’re going to score a lot of goals as well.”

This operational flexibility has permitted the 24-year-old to push into higher zones, maximizing his off-ball movement, tactical awareness, and natural instincts in front of goal to become a constant danger to opposition defenses.

Beyond his individual freedom, João Pedro has forged strong links with his fellow attackers—notably Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. He noted that their mutual understanding and fluid chemistry on the pitch have streamlined their ability to link up effectively during games.
