Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is facing growing criticism from both supporters and neutral observers following the team’s alarming dip in form across all competitions over the last four weeks.
Slot expressed his profound disappointment during the post-match press conference following the defeat against Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. Arne Slot angry spoke about the defensive display, stating, “It was a disappointing result and performance. Conceding three (3) goals is far too much if you want to win a game of football. The first was a set-piece, the second is a counter-attack, which is one of the things Brentford are really good at.” He concluded, “What I have to do is look at what we do wrong and what we do right. I have a clear idea of where we have to improve, but that hasn’t been the case in other games. We didn’t do the basics right.”
The latest loss means Liverpool has now suffered as many Premier League defeats this season as they did throughout their entire title-winning campaign. They have become only the fourth reigning champion to lose four consecutive games, joining Leicester (2016-17), Liverpool themselves (2020-21), and Manchester City (last season). This is the first time the club has lost four straight league fixtures since February 2021, highlighting the urgent need for Slot to resolve the team’s issues.

Defensive frailties are the most pressing concern: Liverpool has now conceded 2+ goals in nine Premier League games – more than any other side this season. They have shipped 14 goals in just nine league games, a stark contrast to the previous campaign where they didn’t reach that total until their 16th fixture.
The pressure is set to intensify with a daunting schedule ahead: The Reds face Crystal Palace at Anfield in the Carabao Cup last 16, followed by a home league clash against Aston Villa. This precedes crucial fixtures against Real Madrid in the Champions League and a visit to Manchester City at the Etihad.
