Anthony Joshua has released a public statement addressing the tragic accident in Lagos, Nigeria, that claimed the lives of two close friends.

The former two-time heavyweight boxing champion broke his silence regarding the December 29 crash, which killed long-term team members Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.

Writing to his followers on January 8, 2026, the 36-year-old reflected on life’s fragility and paid tribute to the men he considered brothers. After a period of private mourning, Anthony Joshua shared his profound shock, noting that he hadn’t fully realized the impact of his friends’ lives until their passing.

He expressed his condolences to their families, stating that while he is struggling, his heart goes out primarily to their parents.
