In a familiar turn of events, Inter Miami’s forward Luis Suárez has received another lengthy suspension, this time a six-match ban from the US Leagues Cup.
The disciplinary action follows an incident where he was seen spitting at a member of the Seattle Sounders’ staff after his team lost 3-0 in the final. During the heated aftermath of the match, Luis Suárez had to be held back by his teammates and was caught on camera aiming a spit at an opposing staffer.
The Leagues Cup’s disciplinary committee has confirmed the ban will take effect in the next tournament, with Major League Soccer leaving the door open for additional penalties. The post-game confrontation also led to punishments for other players.
