Everton has officially signed England international Jack Grealish on a loan deal from Manchester City, with an option to buy.
The Toffees confirmed the news on their website on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. Jack Grealish revealed that he spoke to Everton icon Wayne Rooney before finalizing the move. He also expressed his gratitude to the Everton supporters for their warm welcome.
“As soon as I spoke to the manager, I knew there was only one place that I wanted to go. Thank you for all of the love and support. I hope I can repay you now and I’m sure I will,” Grealish said.
The transfer is a win for both Grealish and Everton manager David Moyes, who has long been an admirer of the midfielder. City’s decision to let Grealish go was influenced by his lack of playing time and the club’s desire for him to get consistent minutes in a World Cup year.
Grealish fell out of favor with Pep Guardiola last season, starting only one Premier League match and being left on the bench during the FA Cup Final. This move marks a new chapter for Grealish, who was a pivotal part of City’s historic Treble-winning squad in 2023.
He will be wearing the number 18 jersey, which was previously worn by Rooney during his time at Everton.
