The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria has officially released the results for the 2026 First Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates.

The exam took place nationwide from Wednesday, January 28, to Saturday, February 14, 2026. Following the conclusion of the tests, script coordination and marking were completed between February 26 and March 13 at designated centers in Lagos, Enugu, and Kaduna.

Candidate Enrollment and Demographics

Registration saw an 11.49% increase this year, with 10,523 candidates compared to 9,438 in 2025. Of these, 10,480 candidates ultimately sat for the exam across 166 centers. The gender breakdown was nearly even, with 51.28% (5,374) female candidates and 48.72% (5,106) male candidates.

Performance Trends

Adesina reported that 3,429 candidates – representing 32.72% of the total – earned credits or higher in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. This marks a notable 5.76% improvement over the 26.96% pass rate recorded during the 2025 series.

Inclusive Education and Special Needs

The Council maintained its commitment to inclusivity, supporting 43 candidates with special needs. This included specialized assistance for 11 visually impaired candidates, four with hearing impairments, and four albinos to ensure a fair testing environment.

Processing Status and Malpractice

While 80.32% of results (8,418 candidates) are fully processed, 2,062 candidates have pending subjects due to various registration errors. Additionally, the results of 75 candidates (0.72%) are currently withheld due to suspected malpractice. These cases are under investigation, and final decisions will be communicated to the affected individuals after a formal committee review.
