Julio Enciso moves to BlueCo from Brighton

Julio Enciso

Recent football news has sparked discussion among fans regarding the transfer of Julio Enciso from Brighton.

The Paraguayan player has been signed by BlueCo, the parent company of both Chelsea and Strasbourg. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the move on Thursday, August 21, 2025. Julio Enciso is expected to undergo his medical as a BlueCo player and will initially join Strasbourg.

The plan is for him to spend the 2025-2026 season in France before moving to Chelsea, where he will be under contract until June 2031.

Why can BlueCo sign a player?

When a parent company owns multiple clubs, it can centrally manage player transfers. However, football regulations, such as FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP), place important restrictions on these arrangements.

A key principle is the single-club registration rule, as outlined in FIFA RSTP Article 5. This means that even if a player is signed by the parent company, he can only be registered to play for one club at a time. In this case, Julio Enciso will be registered with Strasbourg via Ligue 1 after his medical, as that is the club he will be playing for.

Furthermore, new rules introduced by FIFA in 2025 govern transfers between clubs with the same ownership. These rules are designed to ensure fair play and prevent clubs from circumventing Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. Any internal transfers must be conducted at fair market value and validated by the open market. This prevents a parent company from inflating or artificially reducing a transfer fee to benefit one of their clubs.

How did Julio Enciso join Brighton?

Julio Enciso’s transfer from Club Libertad to Brighton & Hove Albion was completed on June 17, 2022. The deal was valued at approximately £9.5 million, and he signed a four-year contract with the Premier League club.

The recent transfer of Enciso to BlueCo, the ownership group of both Chelsea and Strasbourg, is seen as a significant move for all parties. Enciso is expected to be a valuable addition to Strasbourg for the upcoming season, and his move to Chelsea in the future is anticipated to be a major boost for the Premier League side.
