After a difficult period in England where he struggled for form and faced heavy criticism, Højlund admitted he felt his time at the club was effectively over.

“At one point, it felt like it was over for me, but here at Napoli, I’ve again discovered my love for football. People back in Denmark were writing me off, but I never stopped believing,” Højlund said.
“I know I didn’t perform well during my final months at Manchester United, but things have changed now. They said I was finished, but I never gave up. At Napoli, I feel joy again.”
