José Mourinho set for a clash with Chelsea

José Mourinho

Reports from various sports outlets suggest that José Mourinho is being considered for the head coach role at Benfica, just weeks after his departure from Fenerbahçe.

The Portuguese manager, who had a brief stint with Benfica from September to December 2000, is reportedly in talks with the club following the recent sacking of Bruno Lage, as the head coach of Benfica.

Benfica’s first defeat of the season came in a 3-2 loss to Qarabag, where they let a two-goal advantage slip away. In a press conference after the match, Benfica president Rui Costa confirmed Lage’s dismissal.

How will José Mourinho meet Chelsea?

Costa emphasized the need for a new direction, stating, “This is the time for a change to avoid jeopardizing the season. We need a coach with a winning mentality who can lead this team to the success and titles we expect.”
